Investigators reported that Eric was operating a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 250R motorcycle northbound on Parsons Avenue when a 2012 BMW X5, driven by a 45-year-old motorist identified as Kahlil Robinson, was traveling southbound and attempting to make a left turn onto East Woodrow Avenue. During the maneuver, the motorcycle and SUV collided, causing Eric to be thrown from his motorcycle. The injuries he sustained in the impact proved fatal.

The Columbus Division of Police has confirmed that the crash remains under active investigation as detectives continue examining all available evidence to determine the complete sequence of events leading up to the collision.

According to the preliminary police report, investigators interviewed two witnesses who were near the scene at the time of the crash. One witness told detectives they observed the motorcycle traveling at what they estimated to be approximately 100 miles per hour shortly before the collision.
